The 0.2μm ultra-fine grain carbide substrates of threading tools can improve tool hardness and transverse rupture strength, enabling stable edge support under interrupted cuts.
- Oerlikon PVD Coatings for Extended Tool Life
Premium Oerlikon TiAlN and AlCrN coatings with coating thickness commonly from 2 to 5μm can enhance thermal stability with edge sharpness during high-speed tapping.
- Variable Relief Geometry for Less Cutting Forces
The optimized relief angle is engineered to maintain proper edge clearance, decrease flank contact, and prevent tool wear in continuous threading.
- Cutting Edge Preparation for Edge Stability
Micro-honed cutting edges with controlled edge radii from 5 to 15μm can improve edge strength with accurate thread profiles and minimal edge buildup.
- Spiral Flute Geometry for Efficient Chip Flow
Our threading tools are specialized with straight flute, spiral flute, and spiral point designs to promote chip evacuation in through and blind holes.
- Reinforced Core Structure for Higher Torsional Strength
The reinforced core of solid carbide threading tools can increase the torsional rigidity and decrease the tool vibration, maintaining the stable flute volume.
- Multi-Stage Chamfer Design for Less Friction
Our threading tools feature different chamfer lead designs, such as taper (7–10 threads), plug (3–5 threads), and bottoming (1–2 threads) chamfer configurations to deliver smooth thread entry and optimized tool engagement.

FAQ about Threading Tools
Do you provide customized services of threading tools?
Of course! We furnish non-standard customization beyond standard sizes according to your personalized needs. Factors such as materials, diameter, flute length, and the coating of JINOO’s carbide threading tools can all be modified to meet your exacting requirements. We will provide you with cutting-edge solutions to ensure an exceptional user experience.
What is your MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) of threading tools?
For our standard size of CNC threading tools, we have a minimum order quantity of 5 pieces. Beyond that, if you want JINOO to customize carbide threading tools for you, there’s generally no minimum order quantity for non-standard tools, and even a small order can be accepted.
What payment methods do you accept for threading tools?
The payment method of our long tool life threading tools can be flexible; we usually accept bank transfer, credit card, and PayPal. If you have other requirements about the payment method, we can modify it based on your order.
Threading tools have several different types, and each type is designed for specific application scenarios.
- Thread Taps
Tapping tools for CNC are the most common type of threading tool category. They are typically used for cutting internal threads, forming the thread, and cutting the materials in mould-machining and the general machining industry. They are cost-effective for machining small holes with batch production and can be used in manual machinery and CNC machinery.
- Thread-turning tools
CNC thread turning tools are effectively used in CNC and manual machinery for creating both internal and external threads with custom shapes, pitch, and lead. They are commonly used in machining shaft parts and carbide inserts with an available indexable design .
- Thread milling tools
Thread milling cutters are used to machine internal or external threads, which do not rely on the rotation of the workpiece but use the three-axis coordinated motion of the CNC machine tool to complete the thread contour.
Commonly, for the thread taps, high-speed steel (HSS-PM) achieves excellent performance, and the fine-grain structure provides better strength and tool resistance during production to achieve a longer lifespan and durability.
For thread mills and indexable thread inserts, we always use the ultra-fine grain cemented carbide matrix to ensure sharpness and toughness. Our carbide thread mills can machine hardened materials up to HRC 65 while maintaining the thread shape and tool lifespan.
Tapping and thread milling are both common in CNC machining, but they are different in application scenarios. Tapping tools are suitable for high-speed tapping and small-batch production, but they are lacking in flexibility. However, thread milling cutters can better control large-diameter or deep threads. Moreover, thread milling is also suitable for precision threading where thread sizes require adjustments.
Best threading tools for stainless steel should feature exceptional resistance to tool wear and built-up edge. To achieve improved flexibility and durability, we recommend you use solid carbide thread mills for CNC thread milling of heat-resistant alloys. Indexable thread turning inserts are well-suited for creating external threads. You can choose solid carbide thread mills with optimized rake angle and chip evacuation to extend tool life.
In CNC tapping operations, you should choose the correct thread tapping tools with suitable cutting parameters to avoid tap breakage.
Remember to adopt the proper tapping drill size to provide enough chip space. For blind holes, you can select spiral flute taps, while choosing spiral point taps for machining through holes. Using the proper cutting speeds and feed rates is crucial for preventing excessive torque, and efficient internal coolants or cutting fluid can also decrease heat generation.
